Airline Transport Pilot

Certification as an Airline Transport Pilot means you have received the most challenging certificates and ratings. Your flying skills and aeronautical knowledge is at the Masters level. You have the experience and capability to fly in adverse weather conditions and at night.

The ATP Certificate is the pinnacle of aviation licensing and requires a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight time and 500 hours of cross-country flight time. Other requirements include being at least 23 years of age, having an instrument rating, being able to read, write, speak and understand the English language and being of good moral character.

Those certified as Airline Transport Pilots are authorized to act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft in air carrier service with a maximum gross weight over 12,500 pounds.
